Clothes Moth Control & Extermination
Now controlling Clothes Moths in Modesto, Manteca, Oakdale & Turlock!
Clothes moths are about 1/4 inches long and have silvery wings. The clothes moth’s larvae, or caterpillars, feed on wool clothing, carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, furs, stored wool, animal bristles in brushes, wool felts in pianos, and fish meal in fish food. Synthetic fibers or fabrics such as cotton are fed on if they are blended with wool. Caterpillars may use cotton fibers to make their cocoons. Damage generally appears in hidden locations such as under collars or cuffs of clothing, in crevices of upholstered furniture, and in areas of carpeting covered by furniture. The caterpillars are pale white with light brown heads. After becoming adults, clothes moths usually remain in the infested material and do not fly towards lights.
There are a few integrated pest management strategies that you can use to prevent clothes moth infestations. They include regular organization of closet spaces and drawers, removal of infested items, vacuuming closet space regularly, brushing/beating wool products once or twice a month and cold storage to prevent larvae from feeding.
If I.P.M strategies do not treat the problem, an Onstar Pest Control Technician will inspect the infested areas and recommend a low-toxicity treatment. For the best results, Onstar recommends beginning a preventative pest program to avoid future infestations. We offer monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly services.
