"Safe," "Green" or "Organic" Pest Control
"Organic pest control" has recently become popular amongst the pest control industry. It is illegal in California to advertise pest control products as "EPA registered", "green" or "safe" for humans, children or pets. Clever advertisers invented the term "organic pest control" because safety is often associated with the term organic. However, the definition of "organic" as it applies to pest control:
Organic - noting or pertaining to a class of chemical compounds that formerly comprised only those existing in or derived from plants or animals, but that now includes all other compounds of carbon.
Thus, any product that contains a single carbon molecule can be advertised as "green," or "organic pest control." Here at Onstar Pest Control, we don’t believe in misleading our customers. We work with you directly to ensure a positive pest management experience.
Integrated Pest Management
Integrated Pest Management ( IPM ) is a decision making process that anticipates and prevents pest activity and infestation by combining several strategies to achieve long term solutions. Components of an IPM program may include education, proper waste management, structural repairs, maintenance, mechanical control techniques, and pesticide application.
Your IPM service will be designed around six basic components:- Acceptable pest levels
- Preventive cultural practices
- Monitoring
- Mechanical controls
- Biological controls
- Chemical controls
What Can I Do To Reduce Pests Around My Home?
- Vegetation, shrubs, trees, debris and wood mulch should be kept at least one foot away from structures.
- Cracks and crevices in walls, floors and pavement and vent openings are either sealed or eliminated.
- Cabinets, shelves (including garage storage) are thoroughly cleaned at least twice yearly.
- Food contaminated dishes, utensils and preparation surfaces are cleaned by the end of each day.
- Garbage cans and dumpsters are cleaned regularly.
- Litter is collected and disposed of at least once a week.
As mentioned previously, IPM is only part of the battle in controlling your pest population. Regularly scheduled pest control services will help to further eliminate pests from your home or office.

Inspection & Identification
During your inspection, our technician will point out any pest harborages. Correct pest identification provides the basis for the development of the most effective pest management strategies. Threshold levels are established for each pest so unnecessary control measures are laminate.
Prevention
Educated home owners and business can prevent further infestations by improving sanitation, repairing cracks and holes in structures effectively sealing pest entry paths from outdoors.
Monitoring
Monitoring of pest activity helps detect pest population increases or decreases, as well as previously undiscovered food sours and travel paths. We use glue boards and pheromone traps to help with the inspection of pest that may enter the structure. When threshold levels are exceeded, control measures are increased.
Control
Control is accomplished through baits, biological control, traps, physical barriers or pesticide treatments. These methods help to attain control of the pest population both indoors and out. The outside perimeter and harborage areas are treated to help keep your pest populations low.
Evaluation
The technician and the customer evaluate the IPM program and it’s effectiveness, making adjustment to the pest maintenance program to meet thresholds needed.

Rodent ControlIt should be no surprise that ants are the number one problem in the Modesto / Manteca area. We use Termidor to eliminate your outdoor ant problem. Termidor is a long lasting chemical that attaches itself to the ants and is then carried into the nest. Ants communicate by licking each other - and in doing so, transfer Termidor throughout the colony, killing the nest.
